Annual Raffle
With expressions of deep gratitude to everyone who purchased tickets this year, the Avon Volunteer Fire Department announces the results of its most successful raffle to date. The 65th annual raffle raised $40,525 for the AVFD.
“Given our present economy and knowing how so many folks are being forced to tighten their purse strings, the Avon Volunteer Fire Department is humbled by the outpouring of support through this year’s raffle,” said Dennis Bianchi, member of the AVFD Fire Police Company and raffle chairman. “Many who purchased raffle tickets included notes of thanks to the Department, and it’s an honor to serve a community that so generously helps sustain us year after year.”
Food Drive
On September 11, the AVFD sponsored a food drive to help the Avon Food Pantry. AVFD volunteers contributed about 75 hours to the effort and collected $605 and nearly 2,500 pounds of food and paper goods for the Food Pantry.
